In a Nutshell

Whisky maker Bruichladdich's foray into gin

Tasting Notes

Sweet menthol, juniper, coriander, lemon and orange peel, and a bouquet of summer flowers all shine on the nose. The palate is rich and mellow; fresh citrus precedes a warm, rounded and spicy finish.

Production Notes

The Botanist gin contains nine of the 'classic' gin botanicals including orris root, cassia bark, coriander seed and of course, juniper, these are then blended with 22 locally grown botanicals which are handpicked by their foraging team. The gin is then slow 'simmered' in their lomond pot still 'Ugly Betty' to bring out the complex aromatics.

The 22 Islay botanicals are as follows; apple mint, sweet chamomile, creeping thistle, downy birch, elder, gorse (whin), hawthorn, heather, juniper, lady's bedstraw, lemon balm, meadowsweet, mugwort, red clover, spear mint, sweet cicely, bog myrtle (sweet gale), tansy, water mint, white clover, wild thyme and wood sage.
