In a Nutshell
A softer, more developed Primitivo
Deep ruby red colour, with aromas of confected red fruits, blueberries and sweet spices on the nose. Full bodied, La Masseria has soft tannins and well balanced levels of alcohol and refreshing acidity.
2015 was a great harvest in Puglia and the grapes reached very good ripeness and richness. Summer was sunny, dry and warm with many days in the mid to upper 30°Cs. Grape set was light, and beautiful, hot weather resulted in the earliest harvest on record. All vineyards gave clean and ripe fruit.
Grapes were collected by hand, then fermented at cool temperatures to retain freshness and checked the tank daily to ensure they didn't extract too much tannin. Part of the blend was aged in oak to add complexity. Once ageing was finished, the blend was put together and the wine was shipped to Verona.
