In a Nutshell
A highly succesful pairing of vibrant young Sangiovese and barrique-aged Syrah
Savoury, meaty aromas combine with rich dried fruit and spice characters. The palate has ripe black plum and bramble notes along with bright red cherry fruit. Supple, structured tannins and balancing acidity give a full finish.
Sangiovese and Syrah undergo separate, temperature-controlled fermentations in stainless steel, using selected yeats. After 15-18 days both wines are separated from the skins. The Syrah is aged in French oak barrels for 9 months while the Sangiovese is stored in stainless steel before blending.
Azienda Uggiano was established in the early 1970s by oenologist Giuseppe Losapio. He steadily developed the estate, at San Vincenzo a Torri near the river Pesa, to become one of the leading producers in the Chianti Colli Fiorentini zone.
