In a Nutshell
Bountiful fruit in this hugely popular red.
The nose is complex and intense with a bouquet of red cherries, raspberries and cranberries, which continue through onto the rich, concentrated palate. The wine has firm yet smooth tannins with a lingering spicy finish and hints of vanilla. A particularly good vintage of this wine!
After destemming and crushing, maceration took place for 10-15 days at a temperature of up to 26°C. Fermentation followed and then 10% of the wine was aged in American oak barriques and the rest in temperature controlled stainless steel for eight months.
Vigneti del Salento
This is the Puglia venture of the Farnese group (responsible for Gran Sasso, Vesevo and Tufarello ). The wines were made at two wineries in the province of Taranto on the western flank of Salento. The style of the wines – fresh whites, soft and generous reds – will be familiar to those who buy their other wines, as winemaker Filippo Baccalaro is the driving force behind this new label.
