This is the Puglia venture of the Farnese group (responsible for Gran Sasso, Vesevo and Tufarello ). The wines were made at two wineries in the province of Taranto on the western flank of Salento. The style of the wines – fresh whites, soft and generous reds – will be familiar to those who buy their other wines, as winemaker Filippo Baccalaro is the driving force behind this new label.
For those who like soft jammy juicy cherry-fruited reds, Filippo Baccalaro’s Primitivo is deliciously smooth, velvet textured and so easy to drink. Eight months in French oak has softened and enhanced this Primitivo. Its 14% alcohol level seems so in balance with the rest of the wine.
Well-made, silky, complex, velvety and smooth palate, yet it has power and a perfect balance of fruit and acidity.”
