During these dark and cold days of winter we find ourselves reaching for a glass of something rich, warming and red. As the weekend approaches we do find ourselves looking for a reason to celebrate and so we’ve included some fizz as well (after all it is party season!).
Ceradello Prosecco – we’ve just discovered this organic Prosecco which is surprisingly fresh on the finish given its wonderfully honeyed apple fruit.
Monte Schiavo Sassaiolo – this Montepulciano and Sangiovese blend is so much more than the sum of its parts. Blackberry and plum fruit with a hint of spice it’s a cracking winter warmer.
Ciello Nero d’Avola – red Berry fruit a-plenty from this Organic Sicilian red. A great introduction to natural wine.
Rive Barbera d’Asti – this barrel-aged Barbera is the perfect Sunday lunch red in Cat’s book. Smooth and plummy but without being heavy.
Bottega Vinai Lagrein Dunkel – Cat put this on tasting at the beginning of September and it’s been flying out ever since. Her husband calls it the ‘cigar wine’ as he envisages himself with a glass of this sat in front of an open fire with a cigar, and some cheese.
La Masseria Primtivo – we couldn’t miss out our best selling red and it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular – smooth, full bodied and well balanced.
