In a Nutshell
A fantastically complex Godello from the fashionable Bierzo region of north-west Spain.
Tasting Notes
Perfumed, with hints of exotic fruit, apple, and citrus with a hint of white flower. The ripe, textural and complex palate has a stone fruit minerality, lifted herbal notes and crisp acidity, with white spice and a lengthy finish.
Production Notes
The Godello grapes are sourced from a 30 year old vineyard plot with a southerly exposure in Canedo. The additional Doña Blanca grapes were from a vineyard over 65 years of age in Quilós. Typical yields of both are around 1-2kg/vine. After harvesting the grapes in 15kg crates, they undergo 12 hours of cold maceration then temperature-controlled fermentation (at 14ºC) in stainless steel. Fermentation is stopped by chilling, leaving around 4g/l of residual sugar. The wine ages on lees in stainless steel for 3 months, then is kept at 2ºC and bottled regularly throughout year to retain freshness.
