In a Nutshell
Vajra’s Dolcetto is cultivated only on the most appropriate vineyards as the variety is quite delicate.
This Dolcetto d’Alba has a lively deep purple color. The nose opens with tones of wild berries, mulberry, hints of white pepper and sweet spices and fresh thyme. The palate is bursting with blueberries and fresh plums, with a refreshing acidity that makes it a great accompaniment to food. The finish is elegant with a lovely almond note.
Vajra’s 2019 Dolcetto was picked between September 16th and 24th. As the vineyards are located at high elevation (thus protected from thermal inversion) they allow for a longer hanging period and a full phenolic ripening. Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled, stainless-steel tanks for up to 20 days with frequent punching down of the cap for maximum extraction of colour and tannin. Racked at least twice prior to malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged in stainless-steel tanks before bottling the following Spring.

Aldo Vaira’s wines are characterised by pristine flavours and clearly defined perfumes. These characters are attributable to the position of his vineyards at about 400 metres above sea level in the village of Vergne in the commune of Barolo.
