Massolino Barbera d’Alba DOC

2018

In a Nutshell

This Barbera is made from grapes grown in Serralunga d’Alba vineyards with excellent exposure.

Tasting Notes

This wine is deep purple in colour. On the nose, it is elegant with intense red fruit aromas - typical of Barbera. On the palate, it is refreshing and well-balanced with supple tannins and a long, fragrant finish.

Production Notes

The wine fermented for 10-12 days in stainless steel at temperatures between 31-33°C. Malolactic fermentation followed, and the wine was left in stainless steel for a short period of maturation. The wine is usually bottled and released for sale during the spring after the harvest.

This pure red is velvety, vibrant and long, featuring ample sweet, ripe fruit, with violet, black cherry, blackberry and subtle chocolate flavours that linger on the fresh finish. 93 points.

Bruce Sanderson, Wine Spectator Advance, 31st December 2019

Dark cherry, violets and spices to sniff, with a meaty overtone. Blackberry pastilles. Lovely soft tannins and fine, chalky texture. Gorgeous flavours of dark cherries. The acidity is well-balanced, although we're told it's quite high. Love the screwcap. 93 points
