In a Nutshell
This indigenous variety produces powerful, intensely tannic wines.
2015 was a fantastic vintage, allowing for full tannin and flavour development. This is a hulking brute of a red and needs a seriously hearty meal to go with it!
100% Sagrantino, this is powerful, very bold, juicy and bright. This wine sees extended maceration, with a full month on skins, this means it is intensely full bodied, but this length of time allows for a very smooth mouthfeel. Fermentation in large, old, French oak vats and 50% barrel ageing (15% new) is just what this wine needs, oxygen is the wine’s friend as it helps to tame the powerful structure.
