Bright gold in colour with green highlights. Its mineral aromas are a prelude to a more fruity, citrusy scent. The evolution in the glass is continuous and intriguing, featuring wet flint and a slightly smoky note that completes the olfactory sensations. In the mouth it has an imposing structure and great depth. Broad and tight, with an evident saline component that caresses the palate.

Production Notes

After soft pressing and slow fermentation, the wine begins its long journey inside the cellar. The wine spends at least 24 months on its own lees, part in steel and part in small barrels made of French oak. Minimal racking, lots of patience and constant tasting allow this wine to express all the potential of a unique and extraordinary territory. Only after spending several months ageing in the bottle is Maso Franch ready to be uncorked.

Producer Information

Cantina Lavis is an historical winery located at the heart of the Trentino subregion. Founded in 1850 by the Cembran family, who built the initial core of the current production unit. But it wasn’t until 1948 that 14 independent winemakers formed the co-operative – continuing to acquire new members and merge with other small co-operatives in the area, now with around 800 members with around 750 hectares of land under vine.

Cantina Lavis carried out a project in the mid-80s to ‘zone’ their different plots. By analysing the soils in their plots they’ve created a map to help work out which vines should grow where to get the best from them. And this definitely shows in the consistently high quality their wines achieve.
